Be Careful!

Danger is the name of the game.  A little danger keeps the adrenaline flowing but we don't need too much of that either.  This review is based on a book entitled Dangerous by author Lorrie Farrelly.

This novel relates the love connection between a sheriff by the name of Cam and Merry, a compassionate counselor.  They met on the highway and attempted to rescue a pregnant horse attached to an overturned trailer.

This meeting by chance evolves into a love story that is filled interesting twists.  It is dangerously captivating and quite realistic.  The setting for the story is a small town in California called Chima Valley.

This is what author Lorrie Farrelly said about my review of her book:-

"Many thanks to Valerie Rouse for her thoughtful and insightful review of Dangerous.  Very much appreciated."

 My analysis is as follows:-

Dangerous is a fast paced love story based on the characters Cam Starrett and Merry Hayden.  These two concerned citizens who live in Chima Valley met under tragic circumstances.  As a policeman, Cam arrived on an accident scene where Merry was trying to assist the driver of a horse trailer which had overturned.  Unfortunately, they were unable to save the driver’s life or the horse attached to the trailer.  However, on discovering that the horse was pregnant, they both delivered a lovely foal.  This connection between the two characters was immediate and took both of them off guard.  Ms. Farrelly’s book showcases the budding relationship between the two characters.  Their paths crossed again when a student enrolled at the high school where Merry works as a counselor, was intercepted with a knife.  These two sincere souls continued to help the villagers when fire was deliberately spread and threatened to engulf the entire town.

Ms. Farrelly did a good job of colorfully describing her two main characters.  I liked the fact that she revealed their emotional vulnerabilities throughout the novel.  This serves to promote a realistic feel to the book and thus make the characters come to life.  The reader can easily identify with both Cam and Merry.  You can glimpse into their uncertainties about whether they should take the plunge and thoroughly explore the explosive feelings that they have for each other.  I appreciate the fact that Ms. Farrelly took the time to really develop these characters and reveal their soft, sincere inner nature.  Despite their public positions as counselor and policeman, they are both presented as honest, down to earth personalities beneath the veneer of professional protocol.  Dangerous is a very lovely tale of two persons who stubbornly reject their feelings for each other at first.  I would encourage anyone to indulge in this interesting love story.
